Learn.

Learn from experienced analysts and data scientists and gain exposure to various aspects of data analytics. Work on real projects and tasks that involve data collections, cleaning, manipulation, analysis, and visualisation.

Grow.

Use various tools and languages to perform data analysis and create reports and dashboards. Explore and apply new methods and technologies to improve and optimise data analytics processes and outcomes.

Exposure.

Communicate and present your findings and recommendations to stakeholders and clients.

Program Eligibility

  • Be a recent tertiary qualified graduate in data science, statistics, mathematics, computer science, or a related field
  • You are aged between 18 and 35 years old
  • You are currently unemployed
  • You are not involved in any other work placement or internship program
  • Have a strong interest and passion for data analytics and data-driven decision making
  • Have proficient knowledge and skills in at least one of the following: Python, R, SQL, Tableau, Power BI, or other relevant tools and languages
  • Have experience with data analysis, statistics, and visualisation techniques and concepts
  • Have excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Be able to work independently and as part of a team
  • Willing to commit to a 12-month program
  • You are a citizen of South Africa, Kenya or Rwanda

FAQs

Is there a wage associated with this program?

Whilst in the Work Experience Program you are considered to be in training. As such you do not receive a wage but a stipend – an allowance to help you cover basic expenses such as travel to and from the training facility or workplace and meals while you are at the training facility.

What does it cost to apply for the program?

There is no application fee or any costs throughout the program. Participants are responsible for their own transport and expenses to and from the GEC Hub.

What is the duration of the program?

The program has a 12-month commitment requirement.

Will we be working from home?

You will be working from one of our centrally located, state-of-the-art GEC Hubs. Our aim is to provide you with all the tools you need to succeed, including hardware, on-site career coaches as well as high-speed internet and reliable electricity. You will also be part of the GEC community and able to interact with your peers.

We will not make any exceptions to requests to work from home.

Do I need my own computer/laptop?

Having your own fit-for-purpose laptop is ideal. However, we are able to provide you with a desktop to work from in the GEC Hub.
